2010 Mazda6 GT-V6 Review
by Lacey Elliott / Auto123.com
I first saw the commercial for the Mazda6 in a movie theatre last year, do you remember it? The Coliseum, people thumping their feet, wheels spinning, sand flying through the air and then cut to the little boy and “ZOOM ZOOM”. It actually gave me the shivers.

The updates that the Mazda6 saw last year has really put it in the lead. (Photo: Lacey Elliott/Auto123.com)

The redesign they did for 2009 was impressive, and, thank goodness, not too many changes have been made this year. Some of the trim levels have been adjusted to include more choices with the different packages. But overall, this car just gets better.

This is one great looking car. Over the last few years, Mazda has done a fantastic job of updating the look of their vehicles without overdoing it. This Mazda6 is sleek and aggressive looking from every single angle. The curved headlights, Mazda badging on the front grill and the prominent wheel arches make it a very sporty looking car from head on. The dual chrome exhaust pipes and wide rear end add a muscular touch.

I know this car is attractive, especially in the Sangria Mica Red. Normally, red is not a favourite colour of mine, especially for a sedan, but this car wears it very well. I actually witnessed two separate people go out of their way to walk around this car and check it out. Both had big grins on their faces as they circled it like hungry vultures! The looks on their faces said that they were incredibly impressed, and I would have to agree.

Sometimes you see a vehicle that has great styling on the outside but the inside is a disappointment. This is far from the case with this Mazda6. The fit and finish is nicely executed and the leather and all fabrics feel and look fantastic. The NAV system has a touch screen and it fits nicely into the centre dash and all the buttons and knobs are placed for ease of use. The NAV system is available on either the I-4 GT or the GT-V6 as a $2,295 option. More about the trim levels in a bit.

A few fancy touches like polished chrome accents, just a touch of the shiny black piano finish and some grey wood like looking panels give it a perfect amount of class. Again, Mazda has kept the interior design simple, clean and high-end-like.
