Mazda unveils new 2017 Mazda CX-5 headed to Toronto next year

Mazda unveiled a very important model this month at the Los Angeles Auto Show when it took the cover off the 2017 Mazda CX-5, the latest generation of its most important compact SUV. The all-new 2017 Mazda CX-5 features a more modern KODO design that resembles the new Mazda CX-9 introduced this year, as well as several interior and mechanical improvements.

A diesel engine for the 2017 Mazda CX-5 in Toronto

The biggest news with the 2017 Mazda CX-5 is certainly the addition of a diesel engine. This engine has been announced for a long time for the North American market, and it seems that it will finally be offered in the next-generation CX-5. Indeed, the 2.2-liter SKYACTIV-D engine that is recognized as much for its reliability and refinement as it is for its low-end torque. The exact details regarding its specifications are not yet known, but we shouldn’t have to wait too long to know more.

This engine will be added to the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G engines already available on the current Mazda CX-5, which will be available for the 2017 model. These engines, developing 150 and 184 horsepower respectively, have already proven their efficiency, reliability and above all, their fuel economy.

The 2017 Mazda CX-5 will continue to come standard with front-wheel drive along with an optional all-wheel drive system. Another significant change is the addition of Mazda's new G-Vectoring system, the first technology in the SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS group that will eventually be on all models in the Mazda range. The G-Vectoring system improves comfort at both high and low speeds by sending torque to the wheels to stabilize the vehicle and avoid back-and-forth movements inside the cabin.

A more refined style for the 2017 Mazda CX-5 in Toronto

The 2017 Mazda CX-5 will display a more refined style when it enters the market later next year. It will feature a new grill that was first introduced on the Mazda CX-9 this year. Overall, however, it retains the stylish and modern style of the old CX-5. The same can be said inside where there are several new additions, although current Mazda CX-5 owners will not have any trouble adjusting to the new interior.
