Sustainable Vroum vroum 2030 vision : Mazda's long-term vision for a better future
Mazda recently unveiled its long-term vision, and at the same time committed itself to strict environmental objectives. With its Sustainable Vroum vroum 2030 vision plan, Mazda promises to do everything in its power to make the world in which we live cleaner for future generations.
Mazda declares war on CO2 emissions
Over the next few years, Mazda will undertake a series of initiatives to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions from an overall perspective, making sure to make its vehicles cleaner for their entire life cycle.
By 2030, Mazda intends to reduce its emissions by 50 percent from 2010 levels. Then, by 2050, they plan to reduce them by 90 percent. If all automakers could do the same, the world would be an entirely different place.
And since gasoline engines will remain in the automotive landscape for many years, Mazda wants to invest heavily to make internal combustion engines more efficient and energy efficient as well.
Mazda also understands that there is growing interest in electric vehicles, but that these vehicles need to become more enjoyable to drive, and they also need to offer impressive range. By 2019, Mazda plans to unveil its vision of what an electric vehicle should be. This model will be introduced to regions that use their own resources to manufacture their energy.
SKYACTIV-X: A new revolutionary engine is coming
Mazda is also developing a new generation of engines, called SKYACTIV-X, in order to offer more environmentally friendly powertrains without compromising the driving pleasure that has made its reputation.
SKYACTIV-X is the world's first commercial engine to use compression ignition and represents a real revolution in the automotive world. The fuel consumption of this new engine represents an improvement of 20 to 30 percent compared to the current SKYACTIV engine. And on top of that, it promises an increase in torque that will range from 10 percent to 30 percent. In other words, prepare to the get the best of both worlds!
Compression ignition and the new SKYACTIV-X engine will arrive under the hood of Mazda products by 2019. No question about it, engineers are currently hard at work over at Mazda.
