When the Mazda6 first launched back in 2003, it took buyers in the Toronto region by storm. Today, Mazda’s midsize sedan continues to impress us with its sporty handling, modern interior, and of course its stylish exterior. The 2017 Mazda6, which has just arrived in Toronto at Gyro Mazda, keeps all of those characteristics, but also adds a ton of new features designed to make it even more appealing in its competitive segment.

New G-Vectoring Control Now in the 2017 Mazda6 in Toronto

Starting at $24,695, the 2017 Mazda6 is one of the first Mazda models to feature the Japanese automaker’s newest feature: G-Vectoring control. Part of Mazda’s latest SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS systems, G-Vectoring Control  is designed to improve comfort and reduce passenger movement inside the cabin by using the engine’s torque to take turns more smoothly. The upcoming 2017 Mazda3 will also have this technology.

By modulating the amount of torque sent to the front wheels, G-Vectoring control reduces weight transfers while providing drivers with an increased sense of control. Under the hood, buyers in Toronto get a 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G engine which delivers 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque.

The great news about this engine is that it can paired with either a six-speed manual transmission, or a six-speed automatic transmission, both of which were built under the SKYACTIV framework. That means they are lighter, more efficient, perform better, and take up less space. Combine all of those features and you get a transmission – regardless of manual or automatic – that improves fuel economy while also making for a more pleasurable driving experience.

For instance, if you opt for the six-speed manual transmission, you get an average fuel economy rating of 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway, and 9.1 liters per 100km in the city. On the other hand, if you go with a six-speed automatic transmission, you get an even better rating of 9.0 liters per 100km in the city, and 6.1 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway. Very few midsize sedans can equal the 2017 Mazda6’s fuel economy ratings.

The 2017 Mazda6 is Always a Blast to Drive in Toronto

Along with its efficiency, the 2017 Mazda6 also happens to be one of the most fun midsize sedans on the market right now. The Mazda6’s design also manages to turn heads out on the road, and don’t be surprised if a few people come up to you wanting to know exactly what car you are driving.
